A prenatal lactation consult is a great opportunity to get breastfeeding off to the best start. Research shows that prenatal breastfeeding education is positively related to breastfeeding rates and duration. The consultation will be individualised and tailored to your needs.
The consultation will include
- An individualised feeding plan based on your pregnancy history and feeding goals.
- How to breastfeed: I will demonstrate optimum positioning and latch using a doll and get you to practise.
- I will demonstrate antenatal hand expression and devise a plan for you to get started.
- We will discuss how to identify and avoid common breastfeeding problems such as cracked nipples and mastitis.
- We can discuss newborn care, sleep and self-care for you as a new mum!
Please write down any questions/ concerns you have beforehand and we can discuss them in detail. The consultation will be tailored to your needs and goals.
Following the consultation you will receive:
- An individualised written care plan
- A package of helpful resources
- 10% of a postnatal consultation with me if you book/reserve within 2 weeks pre-book
